LearnitPal · Account deletion
Delete your account.
You can delete your LearnitPal account, and the data associated with it, at any time: in the app under Settings, or by asking us. This page is for the LearnitPal app for Android, published by LearnitPal.
Delete it in the app
- Open LearnitPal and go to Settings.
- Scroll to the last section, Account, and tap Delete account.
- Confirm it’s you, then confirm the deletion.
Your account is deleted straight away and you’re signed out on every device. We send a short confirmation to your email address. Deleting your account cannot be undone; if you come back later, you start a new account from scratch.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. Delete it in Settings first, or ask us by email below.
Can't open the app? Ask us
If you no longer have the app, or can’t sign in, we’ll delete the account for you.
- Email support@learnitpal.com with the subject “Delete my LearnitPal account”, ideally from the email address you signed up with.
- If you wrote from a different address, or signed in with Google and aren’t sure which address that was, we’ll reply to confirm the account is yours before deleting anything.
- We delete the account and confirm by email within 30 days, usually much sooner.
What we delete
Everything tied to your account:
- your account: name, email address, password hash, Google sign-in link and profile picture;
- sign-in sessions and the device tokens used for notifications;
- your preferences, interests, notification windows and timezone;
- your sources, your LearnitPal email address and any forwarding requests;
- newsletters sent to your address, including the original emails, and your private copies of them;
- your library and reading history: what you were shown, opened, liked, saved, passed on, finished and highlighted;
- the interests and taste profile worked out from your reading;
- records of the notifications sent to you.
Once your address is deleted, mail sent to it is rejected. If you set up a forward in Gmail, you can remove it in Gmail’s settings under Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
What we keep, and why
Like most services, we keep a small amount after deletion where it’s needed to run the service safely or the law requires it. None of it includes your reading.
- Shared public articles. Articles from public web feeds are stored once for everyone who follows that feed. They contain nothing about you and stay after you leave. Your link to them is deleted.
- Daily totals. Counts such as “cards shown yesterday across all readers”, which aren’t linked to any person.
- Email suppression. If an email we sent you bounced or was reported as spam, your address stays on our do-not-email list, so we never send to it again by mistake.
- Security and abuse records. Server logs and rate-limit counters expire on their own within days. If an account was closed for abuse, we keep the minimum needed to stop it coming back.
- Backups. Your data may remain in our database provider’s short-term backups until they roll off automatically, within 30 days of deletion.
- Your request. If you asked us by email, we keep that thread as a record that we did what you asked, along with anything the law requires us to keep.
Just want less?
You don’t have to delete everything to take a step back. In the app you can:
- turn notifications off, or narrow them to one window a day (Settings → Notifications and Timing);
- remove a source, which also removes its unread articles (Sources);
- remove an interest LearnitPal noticed from your reading (Settings → Interests);
- keep unread articles for 14 days instead of 30 (Settings).
To delete specific data without closing your account, or to get a copy of your data, email support@learnitpal.com and tell us what you’d like. See the Privacy Policy for all your rights.
